In a unique natural environment many poets, writers, musicians, craftsmen and painters have been creating their own artistic worlds since the times of the tenth Muse, Sappho. Nowadays the island is the refuge of many artists who are looking for a calm and beautiful place to work.  In our cultural walks through the great cultural tradition of the island, we will discover its secrets of creativity and meet wonderful people who shape its contemporary artistic face.  Women of the Women’s Agrotouristic Cooperatives, the first cooperatives in Greece, will welcome us to their kitchen and to the secrets of Greek and Asia Minor taste. Dance teachers will teach us the rhythm of traditional dances of the Aegean Sea. Experienced guides of the island will lead us to the roads of colours through the naïf painter Theophilos’ works, while other trips will bring us into contact with some young artists who work on trash art and clay. At the end of the day we will taste ouzo with meze in a picturesque tavern in a fishermen’s village or listen to contemporary Greek singers at the Castle of Mytilene, the capital of Lesvos, Queen of the Aegean Sea.
